We learned Monday that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has scored Bear McCreary of Battlestar Galactica to compose the music for the upcoming show but that doesn’t mean that they had nothing left to share during today’s panel at San Diego Comic Con.
Producer Jeph Loeb, Executive Producers and Writers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tanchareon, and Jeffrey Bell, were all in attendance as were actors Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na, and Clark Gregg, all led by, of course, Joss Whedon.
Marc Storm and Ryan Penagos liveblogged the entire panel which you can read here. Highlights from the panel are beneath the cut in case of spoilers!
The panel confirmed that while we might see heroes and villains from previous films and the comics, the focus will be on the core cast of SHIELD agents every week. There wasn’t much time for other questions though as one of the next questions was about whether the panel would get to see a clip. Fans lucky enough to be there then proceeded to see the world premiere of the pilot episode. Yeah. Cue most of the staff dying from jealousy. We’ve learned that Lola (Coulson’s car as seen in the trailer) is a VERY special car with some awesome special features. Needless to say, the pilot got a standing ovation from the crowd.
Questions resumed afterwards for the final 15 minutes of the panel. Apparently Clark Gregg loved his death scene and thought nothing could top it until he met Lola. They also just started filming three days ago for episode two and the rest of the season. Mina-Na was asked to talk about her character’s mysterious past. (Her answer was no.) There wasn’t much more information given. The panelists mostly talked about being excited to show the pilot to non-Marvel Studios people and about being a part of the entire experience. Joss also talked about the “feeling he gets when he assembles a group of incredibly talented people. He’s really excited about the stuff they’re taking from the Marvel Universe and bringing to the Marvel Universe.”
The biggest news came almost simultaneous from Entertainment Weekly and the panel that Cobie Smulders who played Maria Hill will appear in the first episode and possibly in other episodes throughout the season depending on her filming schedule for How I Met Your Mother.
Is it September 24th yet?
