Entertainment Weekly Previews Upcoming Star Wars Issue

As promised yesterday by awesome person Anthony Breznican, Entertainment Weekly has some new Star Wars material for us today! First up is a meeting with Harrison Ford.

The 73-year-old star has softened significantly now that the planet is beside itself awaiting his return in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “I was glad that the character was still alive for me to play in this new iteration,” he says.

If you spend any time with Ford, one simple reason for his long-standing discomfort with the role starts to reveal itself. Here is the hard truth that some, and Ford himself, may find difficult to accept:

Harrison Ford is totally Han Solo.

Second up is an overview of what additional Star Wars stuff will be inside of this EW issue.

Kicking off the show the hosts highlight What’s New on the Blog. We posted our live commentary for The Empire Strikes Back. In this episode Nanci and Brian are joined by Jay and Cooper from Eleven-Thirty Eight. Bria reviewed Star Wars #11, Kanan #7, and Chewbacca #2. Bria reviewed Battlefront: Twilight Company. We also have a Go/No-Go. Bria reviewed Always Two There Are, the latest episode of Rebels.

Fixer’s Flash covers the latest geek things Nanci and Brian have been up to. For Nanci’s it’s nothing but NaNo. Brian? Videogames. So many videogames.

From there we discuss the latest news in Deak’s Dirt, which pretty much consists of Chuck Wendig discussing why he highlights horribly homophobic reviews. In Biggs’ Bull#&@*, we break down the surprise international TFA trailer!

This week on Camie’s Concerns, we finally circle back to discuss Shattered Empire.

Rebels Review: Brothers of the Broken Horn

If Rebels has figured out how to do anything, it’s making bottle episodes supremely entertaining.

Let’s just get this out of the way. This episode really didn’t add much in way of the show’s lore and didn’t exactly push the plot along. It’s very much like the X-Files monster of the week episodes that showed up between the main plot episodes. Interesting, entertaining, but not exactly groundbreaking. That disclaimer out of the way: this episode is one of the most fun episodes of Rebels yet.

Tosche Station Radio – The Empire Strikes Back Live Commentary

Our fifth installment in Tosche Station Radio’s live commentary track series brings us to The Empire Strikes Back. Joining us this time around are Jay and Mike from Eleven-ThirtyEight.

Instructions!

We will be using the Blu Ray discs for these recordings. The recently released digital copies will also work
Each recording will start at the 00:00:00 mark (the black screen before the Fox fanfare appear)
We will give a “3, 2, 1, play” count. When we say play, that’s your cue to start the film

A note on this recording: For some reason, the Empire BR features two Fox fanfares (Sequence is black screen, Fox fanfare, blue PG rating screen, black screen, Fox fanfare). We will be starting on the black screen right before the second fanfare.

New Star Wars Novels and Short Stories Announced at NYCC

It’s New York Comic Con, which means it’s time for Star Wars literature announcements! At the big Star Wars stories panel at NYCC, the following stories were announced

New Republic: Bloodline by Claudia Gray. This novel will take place six years before The Force Awakens
Aftermath: Life Debt and Aftermath: Empire’s End by Chuck Wendig
A short story about the aliens in Maz Kanata’s castle will be penned by Alan Dean Foster and appear in Star Wars Inisder
The Perfect Weapon by Delilah Dawson will be an electronic short story
Tales From a Galaxy Far Far Away by Landry Walker will contain a series of short stories.
