CVI Schedule to Release First via Mobile App

In an e-mail sent out to Celebration VI attendees earlier today, it was disclosed that the event program schedule will be released first on the Celebration mobile app. If you have a smartphone or a tablet, you may want to go download it now if you haven’t already.

Mary Franklin also teased this. Get to it, cryptologists.

Clone Wars Season Five to Premiere at Celebration VI

While this isn’t exactly news (Dave Filoni said this was going to happen during San Diego Comic Con), the Celebration VI staff made things super official today by announcing that season five of The Clone Wars will debut at the event this year.

Attendees of Star Wars Celebration VI will be the first in the world to see the action-packed premiere of Season Five of Star Wars: The Clone Wars at a big screen red carpet event featuring stars of the hit series from Lucasfilm Animation.

On Friday, August 24th at 5 pm, the Digital Stage at Celebration VI – the venue optimized for high-definition digital theatrical exhibition with state-of-the-art surround sound – will present an evening of Star Wars: The Clone Wars entertainment beginning with a special presentation of the Season Four finale, the episodes “Brothers” and “Revenge.” These are followed by “Revival,” the long-awaited Season Premiere, on Cartoon Network this fall, that continues the story of the resurrected Darth Maul.

Get ready to queue, because you’re going to be in line for a long time for this event.

The Celebration VI staff is promising a bunch of news about guests, events, and a surprise or two this week. Kicking things off is the announcement that the Bounty Hunt game will be back this year and registration is now open.

Teams of two to four will compete to rack up bounties in each two hour event by solving clues and searching the Celebration VI grounds for their quarry. Now back for the third time at Celebration, the Bounty Hunt will put your Star Wars skills to the test!

Will you and your friends be counted among the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters?

For rules and to register, head to the official game page.

For the Single CVI Attendee: Light Speed Dating

Single? Going to be at Celebration VI? Boy howdy, is there an event for you!

It is a dark time for single people,
Although speed dating has become popular,
Couples-only events have driven the single people
Into hiding, and kept them from having fun across the galaxy

Evading the dreaded couples-only events,
The group Sci-Fi Speed Dating, led by Ryan Glitch,
Has established a new group of speed dating sessions,
In the remote city of O’Lando.

The dark lord, Darth Vader,
Obsessed with speed dating, has dispatched
Thousands of invites to Single Star Wars Fans across the galaxy
Inviting them to STAR WARS SPEED DATING
At Star Wars Celebration VI!

You’ll need to register in advance if you want to take part. Who knows, maybe you’ll find The One. Or at least, meet a nifty new fandom friend. You can’t have enough of those, right? There’s nothing wrong with platonic fandom friendship, after all.

Mark Hamill Confirmed for Celebration VI, Nanci Explodes With Glee

That sound you just heard was Nanci screaming in glee.

The Celebration VI staff has announced today that Mark Hamill will be back and in attendance this year! Prepare for a long queue if he does a marquee event. As Nanci mentioned on the latest podcast, last Celebration she was in line for nearly two hours to get in.

In their tongue, Boba Fett is Dovahkiin, Dragonborn!

When I was in college, I lived with one of my best friends for a year. We lived in the on-campus apartments so we had quite a bit more freedom than anybody in the dorms did. I had known that my friend was in the Imperial 501 and that he had several other costumes that he’d either purchased or made. I’d even watched the process of him building his own set of Mjolnir armor from Halo, and then proceed to paint it blue and drill a hole in one foot to make it Caboose from the popular webseries Red vs Blue. He helped me put together a few things of my own as time went by, the only one that I’ve been terribly proud of was my ODST helmet. My brother has the Uruk-Hai orc helmet that he built. What I’m trying to say is that I’m familiar with the process of building a costume out of cardstock, fiberglass, resin and Bondo.

So, I can understand all of what I’m about to show you and, given several months to work

on it, I might be able to emulate this. But probably not. And certainly not like this.

What you’re looking at is one artist’s work on making a piece for charity.  Harrison Krix built this helmet for an auction that will take place at Celebration VI that will benefit Make-a-Wish.  40 artists were contacted to make their own variations on Fett and Clone Trooper helmets for this purpose.  If you’re going to be at Celebration, then you really need to take pictures of these helmets.

This piece was inspired by the game Skyrim and its protagonist, the Dragonborn or Dovahkiin.

For those of you interested in seeing the process of building this piece of art, check out the artist’s site.
