Look sir!  More droids!  I probably should’ve saved that joke for a few more discs down the line but oh well.  This week, Artoo was awesome, certain Jedi were kicked butt, and oh no it’s Jar Jar Binks.  Help.

Downfall of a Droid
This was actually a pretty action packed episode.  I was surprised by how much happened in it.  Inevitably, it’s poor Artoo who gets captured but on the other hand, he’s probably the best character who possibly could get captured.  He’s totally the guy you want as your back up in a bad situation.  Why?  Because he gets things done, of course!

I love how focused Anakin is on getting Artoo back and it’s definitely not just because he didn’t wipe the droid’s memory.  It’s because he considers him to be a friend and in part because Padmé gave Artoo to him.  It’s really quite sweet.

That droid smuggler guy is appropriately skeevy and Grievous continues to be hilariously inept.  Honestly, why was the Republic that worried about this guy?

Also, I’m calling it now.  This replacement Arthree droid is totally going to be a Separatist spy.  No one can possibly be that inept.

Duel of the Droids
NAILED IT.  The little tin can was totally a spy.  TRUST YOUR FEELINGS NEXT TIME, ANAKIN, YOU KNOW THEM TO BE TRUE.

I do feel like I’m still really waiting to see Ahsoka get to do something.  I know she’s gotten to take part some combat but I feel like she’s mostly been regulated to giving orders from the bridge.  That in itself is a bit… strange.  I don’t know about you but I don’t feel great about a very young teenage girl giving battle orders.  Yes, she did finally get to kick some butt in this episode which was nice but I still feel like I’m really waiting for her to get her moment.

It’s adorable how jealous Artoo is over Anakin having another droid though.  And rightly so.  NO ONE CAN REPLACE ARTOO DETOO.  Just look at how he beat up that spy droid.

I’m sorry.  Am I fixating on how fabulously awesome that droid is?  If so, TOO BAD.

Also, I sincerely hope that this tradition of Obi-Wan Kenobi being 300% done with the Skyguy and Snips antics at the end of the episode will continue.

Bombad Jedi
I’ll be honest with all of you: I saw the title of this episode and said a four letter word that Brian and Nanci say I’m not allowed to use on this blog.  If this episode features a Gungan Jedi, I’m just going to sink my head into my hands and shake my head.

And oh hell.  There’s Jar Jar.  In the first minute.  Help.

I’m a little bored with how they keep recycling variations of that Geonosis look for Padmé because let’s be honest: Padmé’s wardrobe not only is but has so much more potential than that one outfit.  That said, I do really like how they incorporated the Naboo crest into her purple headdress.

This episode would have been a heck of a lot better if it had only focused on Padmé.  A lot of Threepio and Jar Jar’s antics reminded me of the battle bits that I wasn’t overly fond of in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.  I’m sorry because I hate being this negative.  I just can’t take this much Jar Jar.

Padmé, however, continues to be awesome.  Self-Rescuing Senator is definitely an inherited trait for Leia.  Seriously: she doesn’t need someone to come save her.  She’s got this under control thanks to her trusty lockpicks.

Cloak of Darkness
LUMINARA UNDULI IS IN THE EPISODE!  YESSSSSSS.  Barriss Offee is my actual favorite but I adore her Master Luminara too even if simply by association.  I’m already amused by how Luminara is already sighing and going “No, Ahsoka.  Threats of violence are not the Jedi way” barely five minutes into this episode.  I’m starting to sense that perhaps Anakin and Ahsoka are a little bit too well paired.  (But seriously: I’d love to have Luminara be my Jedi Master.)

It looked incredibly cool but I really don’t think that going into a full split during a duel is such a good tactic.

It was definitely nice to get the Ahsoka Tano episode I was wanting.  Not only that but this was definitely a very female episode and I adored the heck out of it.  It was also nice to see Asajj Ventress reenter the picture especially after the past few episodes filled with Grievous.

Also?  Nute Gunray continues to be terrible.  But you already knew that.

This was a solidly good episode.  I hope to see more like these.

Lair of Grievous
First things first: seeing a Mon Calamari Jedi in action is super cool.  Kit Fitso’s voice is also a bit weird to me but I think that’s mostly because it’s not quite what I heard in my head.  Alas that young Nahdar was too impulsive and sought revenge and died.  Kit, on the other hand, is kind of a badass.  I hope we get to see him use a lightwhip like that time on Ord Cestus.

General Grievous’s lair is incredibly creepy.  It’s basically a shrine to himself with some very expected trophies.  I’m also not really sure what to make of spider-Grievous.  It’s weird seeing his arms split into two like we saw in Revenge of the Sith though because Obi-Wan’s reaction made me think that he’d never heard that Grievous could do that.

The snarky doctor droid is probably my new favorite character though.  He is 300% done with Grievous’s inability to stay in one piece.  MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE A BETTER FIGHTER, GRIEVOUS.  Honestly, I think this droid made the entire episode for me.
