Season Two continues along with episodes filled with not only a bunch of awesomely badass female Jedi (oh and the male Jedi too I guess) but also the return of General Grievous! Okay, let’s be honest: I was mostly just excited about the appearance of one Jedi in particular.  I bet the title gave it away.

Landing at Point Rain
I will never get enough of Master Luminara being 300% above everyone else’s bickering and silliness.

This episode features the return to Geonosis which really makes me wonder about everyone’s mental state.  I don’t say that to be flip because I am genuinely curious.  Many of the clones fighting in this episode were likely part of the first Battle of Geonosis and all of the Jedi except for Ahsoka were also a part of the fight.  A lot of people died that day.  I can’t help but wonder if any of them are experiencing some form of PTSD or if they’re struggling with the memories.

I know, I know.  Shut up, Bria.  This is a kids’ show.

On the other hand, I feel like I get Obi-Wan here as he sighs at Anakin and Ahsoka’s game to see who can destroy the most droids.  I understand that it’s a way to deal with the horrors of war but I also definitely see where Obi-Wan’s sighs are coming from.

Weapons Factory
They really weren’t doing well in the inventive names department for this arc, were they?

BUT SOFT! WHAT LIGHT THROUGH YONDER WINDOW BREAKS? IT IS THE EAST AND THAT WAS BARRISS OFFEE IN THE OPENING OF THE EPISODE.

Look, I don’t think you fully understand my love for that fabulous lady.  I loved her since I first saw her in Attack of the Clones because, well, she just looked so cool and then my love for her deepened once I read The Approaching Storm and the MedStar duology.  I just love how she’s very capable and yet how she also can have moments where she’s not 100% confident in her abilities.  I find that to be refreshing especially given the abundance of overconfidence that many Jedi have.  I also adore how she’s a healer.  If this gushing wasn’t enough to convince you then a confession from me that she was the first costume I ever truly made should probably do the trick.

That said, I am somewhat aware that she’s a bit different in the show than she was in the Expanded Universe material and while I wish that she’d been given Knight status in the show at the same time as Anakin, I will do my best to relax and just watch my girl be awesome.

Oh wait.  Did you want me to actually talk about the episode?  I guess that I could do that.

Unsurprisingly, I really liked this episode.  I loved watching the plan unfold especially since it featured so many badass female Jedi doing badass things.  It’s fun getting to see pairs of Jedi do more than just lead frontal assaults is which is why last episode didn’t grab my attention quite as much.  This episode had a heck of a lot more heart too it and we got to witness a friendship be born between Barriss and Ahsoka.  Oh and there’s always the added bonus of the attack succeeding.

Legacy of Terror
Did my birthday come early?  I can’t possibly think of another reason for why we’re getting two episodes in a row with Luminara and Barriss in them.  Sure Barriss isn’t actually in this episode that much but it still counts!

The Geonosians who keep moving even after they’re dead because of this powerful hive mind connection are quite freaky.  Bugs are annoying enough as it is without them continuing to wriggle after you squash them.  Usually, I’m a huge proponent of Obi-Wan’s way to approaching a situation but man is now really not the time for scientific observation.  Let’s not let that creepy worm get close enough to go inside Luminara’s head and take her over or bring the worm back to study it.

Brain Invaders
Oh snap, make that THREE episodes in a row.

This is not a good start to the episode though.  Nothing good can ever come from a bunch of clones getting overtaken by brain worms.

There are a lot of things that this episode does right.  As painful as Anakin’s fall is to watch, it’s nice to see them working little bits of it in here and there like when he beats information out of Poggle the Lesser.  This is also a great continuation of the growing friendship between Ahsoka and Barriss as we get to see them work together as a team again.  It would’ve been neat to get to see them out in the field again but this was definitely a neat situation.  Ahsoka’s inability to kill Barriss to stop the brain worms from spreading is perfect.

Grievous Intrigue
Given how many episodes it’s been since we saw General Grievous completely and utterly fail at being a smart tactician who gets the job done, I can’t even complain that he’s back.  Mostly, I find it hilarious that we’re so often told about how dangerous he is but in actuality, I feel like we have yet to actually see any of that.  I would like to note, however, that he looks way cooler when he wears his cape.

I’d also like to give this show applause especially in terms with this season for how often they’ve been featuring female Jedi.  It’s a definite step up from what a lot of other areas of the universe have been doing.

They shouldn’t have shown Grievous fighting Obi-Wan with all four arms though.  That negates his surprise when Grievous pulls that trick on Utapau in Revenge of the Sith.

The Deserter
Let it be known that this is the episode where it became clear that I actually do care about Rex.  Well done, Clone Wars, well done.

On the other hand, this storyline with the deserter clone was totally expected.  It feels like a right of passage for each arm of the Expended Universe.  On the other hand, I just really want all the clones to go and be happy and have nice big families and—wait.  Those are my Clan Skiarta/Republic Commando feelings squeaking in.

Is this show on a mission to have the most adorable children characters ever?  I think they might be.  Aside from these random observations, I don’t really have anything to say about this episode.  Even though there was a fair bit of action with Obi-Wan shooting lots of droids and chasing Grievous and all, it felt a bit slow.
