In our latest bonus episode, we’re talking fanworks–and specifically fanfiction–with the brilliant and insightful Holly E.! What counts as a fanwork? Why is fanfiction appealing, and why does it get such a bad rap? How have major franchises commodified fanworks? And catch the second half of this conversation in our bonus episode 14!

This podcast is NOT spoiler-free.

Resistance Review: Secrets and Holograms

Okay, it’s official: I have a Doza bias.

Torra is very tired of being confined to her room by her well meaning father. Kaz has been tasked by Poe to find out more about this potential deal between Captain Doza and the First Order. That same First Order is currently visiting the base to discuss further details of the agreement. This is going to go exactly as you think. Continue reading

Holonet Blast #85

Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate it and happy winter/summer depending on your hemisphere to those that don’t! Welcome to another addition of Holonet Blast!

On Friday, the first six shorts of Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures, a new animated series for little ones, premiered on the official site and on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. The focus of the series is to “introduce the classic themes, pivotal moments, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga to the next generation.” Keep an eye out for more shorts in December and regular releases in 2019.

In more somber news, Gloria Katz, Oscar-nominated screenwriter for Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, American Graffiti, and many other films, has passed away at the age of 76. We wish the best to her family and loved ones during this time.

That’s it for this week, have a good one and, if you’re in the Anchorage area, remember to boil your water before using it until the water and waste systems are checked for earthquake damage and cleared as safe!

Holonet Blast #84

Welcome to another exciting week of Star Wars news…. oh… what’s that, nothing actually happened this week?

Turns out it’s not just us little people who take a break for Thanksgiving, everyone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The only news we got was an announcement of some of the artists and authors who will be appearing at Star Wars Celebration Chicago next year – a list that is sure to grow as we get closer to the big event. I, for one, am already looking forward to freaking out over whatever new books they announce at the publishing panel.

And, honestly? That’s it. Hope you all (at least, any American readers) had a lovely Thanksgiving eating food, spending time with your loved ones, and being excited about Star Wars because it’s great, and we should always be excited even if nothing’s happening. Happy Monday, and here’s a picture of my pet hamster as filler for the rest of this post.
