Resistance Review: The Children from Tehar

The First Order is definitely here to stay in Star Wars Resistance as they rear their shiny helmeted heads on the Colossus for a second episode in a row. Kaz has once again managed to break something in his role as a supposed mechanic and promises to pay to replace the very expensive part. In desperate need of a lot of credits fast, he’s immediately intrigued by the promise of 20,000 credits for finding two runaway children. The kids, however, don’t want to be found and for good reason: it’s the First Order looking for them. Now it’s up to Kaz and Neeku to figure out a way to help them even though it also means sacrificing any chance of getting the credits to buy a new part. Continue reading

Review: Women of the Galaxy

Sometimes, a project is special enough that everyone should be talking about it. Women of the Galaxy is one of those projects.

Out today from Chronicle Books, Women of the Galaxy by Amy Ratcliffe with art by Alice X. Zhang, Amy Beth Christenson, Annie Stoll, Annie Wu, Christina Chung, Cryssy Cheung, Eli Baumgartner, Elsa Charretier, Geneva Bowers, Jennifer Aberin Johnson, Jen Bartel, Jenny Parks, Karen Hallion, Little Corvus, Sara Alfageeh, Sara Kipin, Sarah Wilkinson, and Viv Tanner, profiles 75 of the female characters in a galaxy far, far away from the stars of the saga like Leia and Rey to more minor ones like Kneesaa and Norra Wexley. The book might not be packed full with revelations but everyone’s bound to learn at least something about one of these characters as they read. From start to finish, Women of the Galaxy is a pure delight. Resistance Review: The High Tower

Star Wars Resistance considerably raises the stakes for Kaz–and the citizens of the Colossus–in its latest episode, “The High Tower.”

Although Kaz still has a lot to learn about spying, and his technique could certainly use a little work, he finally uncovers the First Order’s nefarious plans for the station when he’s invited into Captain Doza’s tower.

Holonet Blast #81

Happy Monday and Happy Almost-Halloween, everyone! I started watching Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House and that has nothing to do with Star Wars or any of this week’s news, I just wanted to talk about it.

Today brings us the debut of LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars on DisneyNOW and the Disney XD Youtube channel! A new short will be posted every day this week through Friday, with a compilation of those five shorts as well as an additional three on Saturday, November 10 at 11am EST/PST. The next four Saturdays after that, from November 17 to December 8, will see a new half-hour episode each, airing at 11am EST/PST on Disney XD and DisneyNOW. All together, that’ll be eight shorts and four half-hour episodes.

In video game news, Battlefront II‘s October continues, with the special Halloween event (that is already happening, go check it out, there are night modes) concluding on the 31st. Before then, on the 30th, General Grievous arrives in the game! To celebrate the cuddly, four-armed murder cyborg of fun, October 31 through November 4 will have dedicated Clone Wars-era playlists for Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown. Go shoot some blasters!

That’s it for this week, have a safe week and we’ll see you all later!

Resistance Review: Fuel for the Fire

When last we met our intrepid hero, Kaz, he was demonstrating his eagerness to be a spy and his resistance (see what I did there?) to learning the trade of his cover identity.

The latest episode, Fuel for the Fire, finds Kaz still straining against the expectation that he work competently as a mechanic. He’s still obsessed with racing and intent on spying, but this week, we also see that he’s hungry for friendship. Continue reading

Holonet Blast #80

After last week’s bombshell of F$@*ed up news from Marvel et al. I am please to being you a relatively brief, largely positive check-in from the galaxy far, far away.

First: Battlefront II players and Clone Wars fans (the Venn diagram of which I understand has a great deal of overlap) got excited this week by news from EA Games that beloved voice actors from the soon-to-return animated series will be adding their talents to the popular video game. Beginning on October 30th, Battlefront gamers will be able to hear Matthew Wood (General Grievous), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Corey Burton (Count Dooku), and Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker) returning to their familiar Star Wars roles. The characters will be introduced over time: with Grievous coming first, followed by Kenobi (November 2018), Dooku (January 2019), and finally Anakin (February 2019).  Battlefront II gamers will have time to get reacquainted with their Clone Wars favorites before the series’ new episodes appear on Disney’s streaming service in late 2019.

And in other, completely-not-terrible-and-in-fact-pretty-cool news, this week we got additional behind the scenes photos from the upcoming Star Wars live action series, The Mandalorian including the deep-fandom Easter Egg ice cream maker (made famous by the legion of Willrow Hoods who take a spirited dash through each and every Star Wars Celebration). The photos are available on Jon Favreau’s personal Instagram to anyone who cares to look. Make sure to check out the set photos from when George Lucas himself surprised Favreau on his birthday!

And that’s it for this week. Yes, really! It’s been a cool and calm week for us in the galaxy far, far away. Enjoy it! Who knows what’s in our future. As always: send Star Wars news tips to ToscheStation.net and send obscure Clone Wars errata to @MandaTheGinger
