Catching Up with Celebration VI Guests

We got a little bit behind relaying Celebration VI news while I was off at Origins, so let’s get up to speed!

Threepio himself, Anthony Daniels, was confirmed for the Star Wars convention late last week. Daniels has been a headliner at every Celebration to date. Also joining him will be Jake Lloyd, who played young Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace, and . Others who are now slated to join CVI as guests:

Kenny Baker: Credited in all six Star Wars features as the plucky astromech R2-D2, Kenny Baker also made appearances as Paploo the Ewok in Return of the Jedi and in uncredited roles in Lucasfilm’s Willow and Labyrinth.

Amy Allen: Amy Allen portrayed Twi’lek Jedi Aayla Secura in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, her character famously perishing at the hands of clone troopers acting on Order 66. Allen also appears as a Senatorial aide in the post-2001 edit of The Phantom Menace.

Chris Malcom: Actor Christopher Malcom portrayed snowspeeder pilot Zev Senesca (Rogue Two) in The Empire Strikes Back, the Rebel responsible for locating the missing Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in the frozen Hoth landscape.

Bonnie Piesse: A young Beru Whitesun Lars (Aunt Beru) was played by Bonnie Piesse in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Garrick Hagon: Hagon played Rebel X-wing pilot Biggs Darklighter in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, but had also been filmed in several cut scenes as best friend to Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.

So we’ve got Zev, Biggs, and Dack at Celebration. I wonder if they’ll have a Dead Rogues Gallery set up for them?

Robot Chicken’s Seth Green and Matthew Senreich Confirmed for Celebration VI

A little more CVI related news today. The creative forces behind Robot Chicken are heading to Celebration VI. Could they be bringing news of their secret Star Wars project?

The twisted masterminds behind Robot Chicken — Seth Green and Matthew Senreich — will be attending Star Wars Celebration VI this August 23-26, 2012, in Orlando, Florida as special guests. Star Wars fans from the very beginning, Seth and Matt have been honored guests of past Celebrations since their hilarious Robot Chicken show moved beyond just the occasionalStar Wars sketch to full-fledged specials showcasing the hilarious side of a galaxy far, far away. Three Robot Chicken: Star Wars specials later, they’re still mining the saga for comedy gold, including working as consultants for the team developing a new animated Star Warsseries at Lucasfilm Animation.

Ian McDiarmid Confirmed for Celebration VI

News just dropped that Palpatine himself will be attending the Star Wars convention to end all Star Wars conventions. From the official site:

Ian McDiarmid, the actor who unforgettably played the evil galactic mastermind and the ultimate villain of the Star Wars saga, will be making a rare convention appearance atStar Wars Celebration VI, appearing on-stage and signing autographs.

In 1983, McDiarmid embodied the full depth of the dark side as the Emperor in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, his face hidden under ghastly makeup and his eyes concealed behind sickly yellow contact lenses. When his true face was revealed as the apparently kind and helpful Senator Palpatine in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999), he projected a different kind of evil — a subtle manipulator of galactic events, a villain hidden in plain sight. As the prequels progressed, so too did Palpatine’s plans until finally, in Revenge of the Sith (2005), McDiarmid got to play evil at its fullest, and revealed the true power of Darth Sidious.

This will be McDiarmid’s first time at a US Star Wars Celebration (he made a brief appearance at the opening ceremonies of Celebration Europe), and his first time ever signing at the Celebration Autograph Hall.

McDiarmid will be joining the likes of Peter Mayhew and Carrie Fisher at Celebration VI this August.

Chewie and Ackbar Confirmed for Celebration VI

The official site has details of more guests confirmed for Celebration VI. The headliner this time around is Chewbacca himself, Peter Mayhew. Other confirmations include:

Tim Rose: “It’s a Trap!” The performer behind Admiral Ackbar, Tim Rose, will be at Celebration VI. The puppeteer also performed the iconic Sy Snoodles and Salacious Crumb.

Trevor Butterfield: Butterfield performed a variety of roles, including an Imperial Officer and Lt. Blount in Return of the Jedi.

Nick Maley: A make-up artist in The Empire Strikes Back, Maley was involved with Stuart Freeborn in the creation of Yoda.

Paul Springer: Mime artist and puppeteer, Springer portrayed a Gamorrean guard and the character Ree Yees in Return of the Jedi.

Mayhew joins Carrie Fisher and Jeremy Bulloch as the early confirmations for the convention to celebrate all things Star Wars. I do hope they’ll let Peter and Carrie do a panel together. One of the highlights at last year’s Dragon*Con was watching the two of them riff off each other for an hour.

Carrie Fisher, Jeremy Bulloch, Daniel Logan Confirmed for Celebration VI

Brace yourselves, the news drought appears to be ending today.

The official Celebration VI website has confirmed that Princess Leia herself will be in attendance this year. Also in the fold are two incarnations of Boba Fett, Jeremy Bulloch and Daniel Logan.

Expect more news to drop, as today is the Somewhat Randomly Selected Day of Star Wars Celebration That Has Been Highly Influenced by a Pretty Awful Pun.
