Holonet Blast #9

Things have slowed down on the news-front since Celebration, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have some news for you! (And in case you missed the madness… we got a The Last Jedi trailerRebels is ending after Season 4,  there was a bunch of publishing news, and holy crap Battlefront II!)

EPISODE IX HAS A RELEASE DATE! It will be coming to our eyeballs not December 2019 but instead May 24, 2019, and if you think people haven’t already spent a lot of energy trying to figure out what prompted the switch back to May releases you would be extremely wrong.

Oh, and according to the same release, the fifth Indiana Jones films will be coming out on July 10, 2020, with both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg returning once more. But now that they’ve brought aliens into the picture, where else is there for Indy to go? We shall learn together.

Disney Announces the Return of Indiana Jones in 2019

Indiana-JonesVariety has the the press release from Disney stating that Indiana Jones will be returning for a fifth epic adventure.

Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

Perhaps not entirely unsurprising as there have been rumblings of a new Indy film since the Disney purchase. Get ready to see the fedora and bull whip again!

Disney and Paramount reach Indiana Jones agreement

Indiana-JonesPer Variety, Disney and Paramount have reached an agreement involving the Indiana Jones franchise.

Under the arrangement, Disney gains distribution and marketing rights to future films, in addition to retaining its current ownership rights which it secured when it acquired Lucasfilm.

Paramount will continue to be responsible for distribution of the first four films in the franchise and will receive a financial participation on any future films that are produced and released.

There’s currently no announcement that a fifth Indiana Jones installment, just a whole bunch of rumors. This deal would suggest that Disney is at least considering the possibility of another film to get Harrison Ford back in the fedora.

Rumor: Ford has deal for Episode VII in exchange for progress on Indy V?

Indiana-JonesJedi News has a new rumor over the weekend that suggests there’s a deal in place to get Harrison Ford back for Episode VII. The catch? He wanted progress to be made on a fifth Indiana Jones installment. Additionally, this rumor suggests that Ford needed to see Han Solo’s arc throughout the entire trilogy, not just Episode VII, in order to agree to reprising the role.

Harrison Ford has made no secret that he wants to don the fedora and whip again. From a fan perspective, getting Indy V out of some sort of Episode VII deal would be pretty neat.

Fanwork Friday: Metal Covers by Eric Calderone

Every morning I listen to The Morning Stream, a really great podcast hosted by Scott Johnson and Brian Ibbott. The other day they played a cover of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepson.

Surprisingly I found myself dancing along. It’s a really awesome cover! I searched the internet to find a YouTube link. Lo and behold, I learned that the artist is Eric Calderone, and he does tons of other covers, some of them very relevant to our geeky interests.

Behold, heavy metal Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Check out Eric’s YouTube channel for all his videos. He also has a Facebook and Twitter.
