If you missed seeing Legend of Korra, the fantasy action adventure animated series with a kick-ass WoC main character, the first time around or if you just want to watch it again (because really, who wouldn’t want to watch it again? Someone who is not me, that’s who), you’re in luck! Yesterday Nickelodeon posted the entire series online for free streaming on their website. Check it out here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have cartoons to marathon.

Cosplay Monday: Airbender Family

It’s time for another Cosplay Monday where we try to brighten the start of your work week with some awesome looking cosplay.  One of the best/worst things about a conventions is that there is so much amazing cosplay that you can’t possibly catch it all so you have to look at everyone’s pictures afterwards.  Today’s costume group is one that I saw across the way at Katsucon but couldn’t get away from what I was doing to take a picture.  Luckily, David Ngo snapped a great picture of this amazing Airbender Family group from Avatar: Legend of Korra.  The entire group is nothing short of perfect.  I don’t even need to say anything else.  Just look at their perfection.

Cosplay Monday: Lin Bei Fong

Here are Tosche Station, we are big fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra.  (Don’t worry: we’re working on converting Nanci!)  Therefore, it makes sense that this awesome Lin Bei Fong costume by Jeni Hellum would catch our eye!  Not only does she make a great Lin but the costume itself is incredibly impressive especially with the attention to detail.  The armor looks like it is real functional armor and she could totally be ready to take down criminals in Republic City at a moment’s notice.

Cosplay Week: Korra

It’s Cosplay Monday!  No wait, that’s not right.  Today’s Sunday.  Actually, we’ve got something better for you than just Cosplay Monday: it’s Cosplay Week!  Between Celebration VI and Dragon*Con, we at Tosche Station have seen a TON of fantastic costumes lately and we couldn’t wait to share some of them with you.  So for this week only, we’ll be posting an awesome costume that we saw these past two conventions every day!  We don’t know who the cosplayers were for most of these so if you recognize the costumer, please let us know so we can give proper credit!

Korra Gets 26-Episode Bump

Take that, Game of Thrones.

It turns out that if you have a wildly successful animated show that manages to beat out Game of Thrones in ratings, your hosting network may want more episodes of said wildly successful animated show. According to EW, Nickelodeon has ordered an additional 26 episodes to be added to The Legend of Korra’s run.

It’s official: The Legend continues! Nickelodeon has picked up a second season of the animated adventure series The Legend of Korra, EW has learned. After averaging 3.8 million viewers for Season 1, Book 1, which concluded June 23, the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel is receiving a second-season order of 26 episodes that presumably will be divided into two parts called Books 3 and 4, bringing the total number of episodes to 52.

Who says an action show centered around a well-crafted female lead can’t be a winning product?

Cosplay Monday: Korra Time

Welcome to a new weekly segment here on the blog, Cosplay Monday. Each week we’re going to be highlighting one costumer that has gone above and beyond in representing fandom. This week’s costume comes courtesy of Sheila and Sylar of Aicosu. They’re costuming as Korra and Tahno from The Legend of Korra.

Yeah. That’s what you would call “incredible.” Props, Sheila and Sylar! To see more of their great costumes, head to the link above.

Star Wars Needs To Learn From Korra

Meet Korra. She’s awesome.

I honestly hadn’t planned to chime in on this.

By now I imagine most of you are aware of the Great Gender Kerfluffle of 2012 that cropped up in the Star Wars fandom over the last few weeks with much being said about the need for more well-developed female characters in this franchise. Emily chimed in last week and eloquently put things into perspective. Frankly, people far more knowledgeable and better with wordy-like-thingamawhatsits than I am said what needed to be said. Still, as I was reading through things on the sidelines, I ran into one comment in the Club Jade post that got my gears turning. I can’t even remember what exactly it was or who posted it, but it set off a bit of something in my head that needed to be addressed. Well. Three things, specifically. A trio of arguments that I’ve seen recycled numerous times during the recent dustup and over the years.

While I was turning these arguments over in my head, another thought hit me. There’s a television show, a current one, that has addressed these points that were troubling me. Then it all clicked.

Star Wars has a lot to learn from The Legend of Korra.
