Fortune Cookie: “To seek something is to believe in its possibility.”
I have a not-so-secret guilty pleasure ship (and I’m talking about the relationship kind here): Obi-Wan Kenobi and Asajj Ventress. While everyone else ships Obi-Wan with either Siri or Satine or another random character, I prefer him with Asajj. I don’t actually think anything romantic will ever happen between them, but I love the complicated relationship they have on The Clone Wars. It’s one of disdain, but also grudging respect. And they work very well together.
“Holding Out Hope” by Valairy Scot depicts a confrontation between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Asajj. It’s a great study of my favorite character in The Clone Wars series, and a great exploration of Obi-Wan’s desire to redeem her. It’s hard not to hear his impassioned pleas to Anakin in Revenge of the Sith while reading this fic.

Kicking off the show, Nanci highlights what’s new on the blog. Fanwork Friday featured a fic by salanderjade called Beside the Dying Fire. Bria’s weekly Cosplay Monday feature looked at a brilliant Ursula costume. In Trope Tuesday, Brian entered the battlefield of love to discuss Ship-to-Ship Combat. He also reviewed the Essential Reader’s Companion by Pablo Hidalgo and discussed continuity and perspective in the Expanded Universe. Hark.com sent us some infographic fun comparing Star Wars to Star Trek.
In Fixer’s Flash, Nanci has been keeping herself busy by reading The Long Hunt as well as the Essential Reader’s Companion. She’s also thrilled that Once Upon a Time is back on the air. Meanwhile, Brian is reading through War of the Seasons: The Half-Blood by Janine Spendlove and the latest issues of the all-new Captain Marvel. He also has been enjoying all the extra features in the Avengers Blu-Ray set.

Fortune cookie – “Strength of character can defeat strength in numbers.”
Jawajames over at Club Jade noticed that fans of Darth Maul may want to visit Target on September 11th to pick up an exclusive Director’s Cut edition of the Darth Maul Returns episodes from The Clone Wars. You’ll be able to pick up the four episodes for $10 through Target’s online store.
Season five itself will go onsale on DVD and Blu-ray on October 23.
At Celebration VI, it was announced the first two seasons of The Clone Wars would be moving to syndication. Yesterday, Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee dropped an interesting tidbit regarding the move to broadcast television:
First two episodes to air are “Cat and Mouse” (S216)and “Hidden Enemy”(S116).Mull that over for a little bit.#tcwsyndication
— Leland Chee (@HolocronKeeper) September 4, 2012
Well how about that, it looks like TCW will be airing in chronological order. Lucasfilm and Cartoon Network appeared to have learned their lesson about airing things out of order a while back, and it’s good to see that’s going to be translating into the move to syndication.
No release date has currently been given for the syndication premiere of The Clone Wars. The Clone Wars moves to syndication on September 16.
We’re kicking off the third day of Celebration VI with the anticipated Joel Aron and Dave FiloniClone Wars Q&A. Lots of new clips and details about Season Five were revealed, some of which might be considered spoiler-y. Also, there was a surprise guest. To the cut!
Today’s big Star Wars event at San Diego Comic Con was a Clone Wars panel with Dave Filoni. While we couldn’t be there, we’re all fortunate that all-around awesome person Amy Ratcliffe was on hand to live-tweet the big stuff. She’s been kind enough to let us compile her coverage for the blog, so go say thank you by giving her a follow on Twitter!
Spoilery TCW goodness below the jump!
