I have really enjoyed these shows, and I’m a little disappointed you aren’t doing more of the books beyond the trilogy and the new Thrawn novel (though I completely understand why). I’d love to hear recommendations of what to read both in Legends and from Zahn as I liked these. I’m working my way through the X-wing books (trying to catch up to Rogue Podron) but Legends is so vast, it is overwhelming to navigate on my own. Plus, I know there is a lot of not-so-great fare, and I don’t want to read books that aren’t that great. Your podcast has got me into reading this trilogy and the X-wing books, and I can’t thank you enough for the hours of enjoyment I have had from these stories.

If you want to read more Zahn, this is how I’d read them:
– Thrawn Trilogy
– Hand of Thrawn (Specter of the Past, Vision of the Future)
– Survivor’s Quest (technically this comes AFTER Outbound Flight chronologically, but reading OF first spoils some reveals)
– Outbound Flight
– Scoundrels
– Allegiance
– Choices of One
I’d try to finish the X-wing books (minus Mercy Kill) before reading Hand of Thrawn, including I, Jedi (which takes place between Isard’s Revenge and Starfighters of Adumar). So, like this:
– Thrawn Trilogy
– X-Wing series through Isard’s Revenge
– I, Jedi
– Starfighters of Adumar
– Hand of Thrawn
If you’re looking for good standalones regardless of era or author, I cannot recommend Kenobi or Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor enough. Mindor is the quintessential Luke Skywalker novel.
Once you make your way through Legends, you can cap it off with Mercy Kill and pretend that Crucible never existed. 🙂
Oh! If you want to read Zahn outside of Star Wars, read THE ICARUS HUNT. Also DO NOT seek spoilers on it. It is one of my favorite books, period. It might even be my favorite Zahn book, even counting Star Wars.
